Privacy

Short version: this site sets no cookies, does not sell information about you, and shares what you give it only with the four services named below, to do the thing you asked. What follows is the whole of it.

When you visit #

The site is static pages served by Netlify, which sees the requests any web server sees: your address, the page, the time. Fonts are served from here, not from a font service. There are no advertising or social-media scripts.

We count visits with GoatCounter. For each page view it records the page, the referrer, the country, the browser, the operating system, the language and the screen width. It sets no cookie. To tell one visit from the next it keeps, in memory only, a mapping from the site, your address and your browser signature to a random identifier, for at most eight hours, and then that is gone. We use the counts to see which pages people read, and nothing on this site changes based on who you are.

When you write to us #

The contact form is handled by Netlify Forms: your name, email, message and, if you fill it in, how you found us go to Netlify, which stores the submission and forwards it to us. We use them to answer you and for nothing else.

The incubator application is a Tally form embedded on that page. Opening that page makes your browser load Tally’s script and form from Tally’s servers before you type anything, so Tally sees that visit under its own privacy policy. What you enter goes to Tally and then to us, for reviewing the application.

The email signup goes to Buttondown, which stores your address, sends the dispatches and lets you unsubscribe with one click. Open and click tracking are switched off in our Buttondown account, so the mails carry no tracking pixel and no rewritten links.

What we keep, and for how long #

• Messages. Your message and your address, for as long as the conversation is live. Write to us and we delete them.
• Applications. For the review, and for a year afterwards in case a place opens. Write to us and we delete them sooner.
• Subscriptions. Your address, until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
• Visit counts. Kept as aggregate numbers, with nothing in them that points back at you.

Each of the four services keeps its own copy under its own policy, and a deletion at our end reaches their backups on their schedule, not ours.
